Grand Canyon and Carl Richards

Yesterday I went to the Grand Canyon to take pictures of Winter Canyon...I didn't get too much new but did get some elk and canyon pictures with snow.. It was cold and sunny. I had a great time. After that I went to Flagstaff to pick up Chaplain Carl Richards (Florence Prison Chaplain) at the train depot. He had been in West Virginia for the Christmas holidays and experienced a heart attack and a triple by pass as a result. The train ride home was rough as any movement is painful but he was glad to be back and we had a wonderful visit on the way back to Phoenix. This is his third open heart surgery....first was a bypass and that is still unclogged (PTL). It is as clear as the day they did it over 20 years ago. The second was when a car fell on him...ouch ouch...and then this 3rd one...He said it went great and was the easiest of all the surgeries...

Prison Prayer Requests

Sunday I went into one of the prisons in Florence Az. At the close of the service one of the inmates gave me this list and asked for prayer for them. I will not use any last names.

Sandra...whose mother died

Veronica whose brother attempted Suicide

Wencesalo C. the inmate

Raymone and Alfonzo...brothers of Wencesalo

Tina, Alica ...sisters of Wencesalo

Patiricia...Wencesalo's mother

These inmates take prayer very seriously and take their Christian life very seriously. Last night over 50 inmates gathered to sing praises to God and listen to me speak the Word...it is an exciting thing to work with these men, most of all who are believers or seekers. Church service is optional so they come by their own choice. Usually one or two may leave during the service but most stay and respond. Pray for prisoners everywhere. They are lonely, abandoned and know they have messed up. All of them are so appreciative of the support of volunteers and never take them for granted. Here is a wonderful example of "the fields are white for harvest but the laborers are few". Anyway...just quickly mention these names in prayer. Dan, another inmate, is being released today...pray for strength and wisdom for him. Others will be released soon and don't even have a place to go...

My First Legitimate Post

January 10, 2009 Up to this time, my sister Judy has done the entries for this blog. I am stepping out into unknown waters to see if I float or sink. Today January 10th 2009 I got my new glasses from Costco. They work great with my hearing aids....ok that is all for this initial posting...

Christmas Hills Tree Farm 2007 Harvest

I thought you might enjoy shots of a Christmas tree harvest. I spend time each year in the hills of Mossyrock, Washington helping out in the harvest of Christmas Hills Tree Farm, which is owned by my son-in-law and daughter, John & Cheryl Burton. Here are the 2007 Harvest photos:
